The English version of the newly launched book “Digital Diplomacy: A Solution for Promoting Angola’s Image” by Angolan diplomat and journalist António de Sousa Simbo was launched on Friday, 5 June 2026, at the Library of the Embassy of Angola in Gaborone, Botswana.
The event was attended by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for Regional Integration, Angèle Makomno N’tumba, the Ambassador of Mozambique, António Macheve, and the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mutomba Kambila Patrick, as well as the Director of Corporate Services at the University of Botswana, Faith Rauleng-Tuelo, diplomats, academics, and university students.
On the occasion, the Ambassador of Angola to Botswana, Sandro de Oliveira, stated that the literary work provides important lessons on the challenges of applying classical diplomacy in contemporary times and presents strategies to overcome them through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), which are of great importance to actors in the field of diplomacy.

During his speech, the author urged governments to adopt digital diplomacy as an instrument for conducting foreign policy.
“It is an effective foreign policy mechanism for mediating conflicts, providing counsel, making appeals, and facilitating the promotion of a country’s culture and values. It enables nations to influence opinions in a more direct and agile manner, exercising soft power,” said António de Sousa Simbo. He further emphasized that it is also a valuable contribution to strengthening the Angola Brand.
The event concluded with a book-signing session led by the author.
